Not sure what you need?
The Notorious exists because we kept hearing the same request: something between factory plastic and the more extreme Crawler. The Crawler is purpose-built for rock crawling — narrow profile, maximum wheel well opening, every millimeter dedicated to tire clearance. But most JL and JT owners live between those extremes. They run 35s or 37s, daily drive to work, and hit trails on weekends. They want coverage that actually keeps mud and gravel off their door sills and rocker panels — something the Crawler's narrow profile intentionally trades away for clearance. The Notorious is that middle ground, engineered from scratch as a mid-width flare. The stance reads aggressive without overwhelming the body lines, and the coverage is functional for daily use. If you're running 40-inch or larger tires, check out our Ultimate Clearance Highline Flare options.
Every aluminum flare manufacturer claims "lightweight" and "rust-free." Here's what those words mean in practice. The Notorious is CNC-cut from .190-inch 5052-H32 aluminum — the same alloy grade used in marine applications where salt exposure is constant. It's not just corrosion-resistant in theory; it forms an aluminum oxide layer upon contact with air that actively prevents further degradation. That's why bare aluminum Nemesis flares still look clean years later with zero maintenance. On weight: the Notorious saves roughly 8–10 pounds per side compared to equivalent steel construction, and that weight comes off your front axle — directly improving steering feel, reducing brake wear, and putting less strain on ball joints and tie rods. Every piece is TIG-welded in-house at our Kiowa facility, then formed on custom-built tooling that matches the JL body contour. The powder coat options — Cardinal BK-08 semi-gloss or BK-59 textured — add UV and abrasion protection, but the base material needs no finish to perform.
Fitment is where most aftermarket flares fall apart. The design looks right in a 3D model, but panel gaps disappoint and body lines don't align where they should. We run a different process. Every flare iteration gets test-fitted on physical JL, JLU, and JT platforms across trim levels before the design locks. The mounting uses nut inserts through factory hole locations — drilled to size during installation rather than asking you to eyeball new holes in your body panels. This method lets us position the flare precisely relative to the fender edge and maximize the wheel well opening for tire clearance while keeping the reveal line consistent along the body. Installation runs 2–3 hours with a drill, nut insert tool, and basic hand tools. No cutting, no welding, no fabrication. The process is fully reversible if you ever go back to stock. Hardware kit is complete — we don't ship a flare and make you source fasteners from the hardware store.
