This kit adapts a 2007 - 2018 Jeep JK Dana 44 or 2019 - 2024 Jeep JL M200 / M220 axle Non Rubicon to accept brake calipers with an integrated electric parking brake. This axle is commonly swapped into projects, and although it already has disc brakes, the parking brake setup is clunky and hard to adapt. Often, the parking brake is never hooked back up after an axle swap. This is a problem, especially with manual transmission cars and off-road vehicles. Not to mention that the brakes are over a decade old and could probably use a re-fresh, so why not upgrade?
The brake calipers are sourced from a 2022-2024 Grand Cherokee (fits most 17” wheels) and a large vented or solid disc rotor. Depending on preference, you can choose either the 14mm thick, 325mm diameter rotors and corresponding calipers, or the 22mm thick, 350mm diameter vented rotors and corresponding calipers. The kit includes the brackets, tone ring shields, hardware, connectors, control switch, and breaker required to operate the parking brake. You will need to supply the rotors and calipers and wire (make sure the rotor and caliper are for the same application since the vented and solid rotors have different diameters and thicknesses)
The advantage of the electric parking brake is obvious if you have ever adapted a mechanical one before- It is much easier to route electrical wires than adapt heavy pull cables, and make sure leverage ratios work together. And the holding power of the electric calipers is superb, extremely reliable, and easy to operate. There is a reason most modern vehicles now use them.
